Hair Extensions and What They Commit You To

Added length and density — and an honest account of what maintaining it involves.

There are several attachment methods and they behave differently. Some suit fine hair better, some hold up better in thick hair, some are gentler to remove, and some sit flatter under thin sections at the crown. The right method depends on your density, your part, how you wear it and how rough you are on it. Ask why the method being suggested was chosen for your hair specifically.

The commitment is the part people underestimate. Extensions move down as your hair grows and need repositioning on a schedule. They need their own brushing and washing routine. Hair worn up in a ponytail every day asks more of a placement than hair worn down. None of that is a reason not to get them; it is a reason to know before rather than after.

Color matching is a real part of the work, and blending against highlighted or multi-tonal hair takes more than picking a shade off a ring. If your own color is going to change, sequence the color work and the extension work in the right order — ask which should come first for what you are planning.
